Fareway now open in Tea

Fareway held a ribbon cutting Feb. 26 and opened for business Feb. 27.

The space at the corner of First Street and Heritage Parkway previously housed Sunshine for 13 years, which closed Feb. 2. The Tea Fareway is the fourth store to open in South Dakota and the company’s 124th store. The other South Dakota stores are in Harrisburg and two in Sioux Falls.

Fareway also has stores in Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa, with the majority being in Iowa.

“Having a Fareway food store in Tea will be a wonderful addition to our community,” said Tea Mayor John Lawler.

BJ Van Der Linden, Fareway regional vice president, said the Tea store is similar in size to the Harrisburg store at 18,500 square feet. In comparison, the Sioux Falls 41st Street store is the biggest South Dakota store at about 35,000 square feet and the one on Sycamore is 26,000 square feet.
