Council approves development plans
The Tea City Council met Nov. 18 and approved the 2025 appropriations ordinance.
The budget includes funding to replace the playground equipment at the city park.
The council approved the Harvard Industrial Park developer’s agreement, but not the cost-share to extend paving of Sundowner south of their driveway.
They also approved the site plan for Kwik Star at 1940 Tea Commerce St. at the corner of Gateway Boulevard and Sundowner Avenue. The plans call for a 10,950 square foot building that includes a convenience store, kitchen and car wash.
The council approved the building remodel for Glass Doctor at 1040 Gateway Blvd. The 4,932 square foot building remodel includes a new exterior and office with retail space.
They surplused a 2019 Dodge Charger from the police department that will be auctioned through Big Iron.
The council held a public hearing for a conditional use permit for motor vehicle sales and service at 2020 Industrial St., Unit 1. 605 Four Wheel Drive LLC has an 1,800 square foot building that has room for 5-6 vehicles inside the shop at a time. The hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The council approved the CUP.
They also approved the building permit for the Gruen-Wald building addition for cold storage at 1101 N. Heritage Parkway. The addition will be 8,500 square feet.
The council heard about the first parade of lights being planned for Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. The parade route will be from the high school going east on Brian Street then south on Main Street to the Tea Sports Complex. The council had some concerns about crossing First Street but overall were positive of the event.
