Dr. Tonia Warzecha named new Superintendent at Tea Area

The Tea Area School District Board of Education announce March 1 the appointment of Dr. Tonia Warzecha as the district’s new Superintendent.
Dr. Warzecha brings extensive experience and a proven record of educational leadership, including over a decade in administrative roles. For the past four years, she has served as Superintendent of the Dakota Valley School District, where she prioritized student achievement, supported educators, and strengthened school-community relationships.
Dr. Warzecha holds multiple advanced degrees from the University of South Dakota, including a Doctor of Education Degree, a Specialist Degree in Education Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Minnesota State University.
She has a strong history with the Tea Area School District, where she served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for seven years, and an Assistant Principal for three years. Dr. Warzecha has 16 years of elementary experience, teaching at Tea Area Legacy Elementary and in Mankato Minnesota.
Dr. Warzecha’s work has earned her numerous accolades, including being named the South Dakota Curriculum Leader of the Year in 2021 and the Project Lead the Way Teacher of the Year in 2015.
Known for her student-first approach and her expertise in curriculum and instruction, Dr. Warzecha is committed to fostering a learning environment that supports the academic and personal growth of every student.
Her leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a deep understanding of the needs of both students and staff.
