Lakota Events Hall bids farewell to Hagedorn family, welcomes new chapter

Throughout the years, the Lakota Events Hall has been home to many things, but on Thursday, February 27, it will find new owners and a new chapter will begin.
What is known now as Lakota Events Hall started out as Lakota Party Sales, a Tupperware distribution center when Linda Hagedorn was promoted as a Tupperware distributor.
“My parents, Linda and Otto, purchased the property in 1977 and opened Lakota Party Sales, employing seven to ten employees, each of my siblings, who packaged and shipped Tupperware orders, and held meetings for up to 300 dealers and managers throughout the five states,” said Hagedorn’s daughter, Sara Beach.
Around 1998, the family decided that it was time to hang up their hats as Tupperware distributors, and focus on having a little fun.
“My parents reopened the building as Lakota Events Hall, and we offered a unique venue, a place to come into and make it your own. We provided an environment that was welcoming for any event and people used their own imaginations to make it into what they wanted it to be,” she said.
No celebration was too big or too small to fit into the Lakota Event Center.
“We have hosted weddings, receptions, birthday parties, anniversaries, graduations, political events, voting for Lincoln County, and even my mother’s own celebration of life and funeral were held in this building,” Beach said.
After Linda’s passing, the family continued to run the facility just as it always was, but with time have made the decision to sell the building.
“This has not been an easy decision for our family as this is where we have had each of our own weddings, graduations, birthday parties, gatherings, and more for over four decades, but as you get older in life, you sometimes have to make difficult decisions to make life easier for your parents, and for your children,” she said.
The family has chosen trusted colleagues, Marshall and Forrest Miller of Merle Miller Real Estate and Auction to help find a new owner for their property.
“Merle Miller and his sons Marshall and Forrest have helped with a number of real estate opportunities since the early 1980’s and have become dear friends of our parents,” Beach said.
“My dad started working with Otto on different things, later with buying and selling property, and throughout the years became very close. Now, here we are 35 years or so later, and we still have the opportunity to help the Hagedorns do what they’ve got to do,” said Principal Broker of Merle Miller Real Estate and Auction, Marshall Miller.
The Lakota Events Hall and 2.4 acres, along with a separate property to the North with an additional 25.5 acres of development land that adjoins the event hall will be sold as separate lots on Thursday, February 27 at noon.
“The location itself is great, and the added benefit of 12,000 square feet divided between two levels with a big kitchen makes it suitable for almost any use,” Miller said.
This turn-key business is set up for any potential buyer to be set up to start immediately.
“The metal steel building has all the services ready to go, and enough power to do anything you want. With three phase power and 800 amp service and 220 amp plug ins for bands and other power needs,” he said.
For those that are interested, personal items will also be left with the building for purchase.
“A new owner could walk in and set up right away, things that are being left with the building include the big things like tables and chairs to help the next owner be operational,” Miller said.
The Hagedorns are very excited for whomever takes over the property.
“My father jokes that he hopes nothing too loud moves in next door, but he will now enjoy retirement on the farm. His grandson has the barn alive and busy with animals that have always been interesting conversation for guests attending events,” Beach said.
