McNaughton medals at State A Golf Meet

On Monday, June 3 and Tuesday, June 4 the top girls’ golfers from across the State took to the course at Bakker Crossing to compete in the 2024 State A Meet. 

Among the competitors were Tea Area High School’s Abby Munson, Izzy McNaughton, and Sophie McNaughton. 

I. McNaughton had a great two-day showing earning a medal, finishing in 12th place with a two-day total of a 165. On Day 1, McNaughton shot a 79, shooting a 38 on the front nine and a 41 on the back. On Day 2, McNaughton shot an 86, shooting a 42 on the front nine and a 44 on the back. 

Munson finished with a two-day total of 181 to tie for 36th place. Munson shot a 94 on the first day, hitting a 48 on the front nine and a 46 on the back. She finished with an 87 on Day 2 with a 45 on the front nine and a 42 on the back. She had a birdie on the back nine. 

S. McNaughton finished with a two-day total of 205 to tie for 56th place. McNaughton shot a 98 on Day 1, shooting a 53 on the front nine and a 45 on the back. On Day 2, McNaughton shot an 107, scoring a 54 on the front nine and a 53 on the back. 

Winning the 2024 State A individual title was Kaitlin Strain from St. Thomas More whose two-day total was 152. There were 90 total golfers. The team title went to Sioux Falls Christian.
