Post 266 TinCaps walk-off Vermillion, lose to Lennox

On Monday evening, July 1 the Post 266 TinCaps got a bases loaded wild pitch, in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Post 1 from Vermillion 5-4.  

The Caps got off to a hot start in the first inning with back to back singles, by Mason Schramm and Gavin Johnson, who both scored on a two run triple from Clayton Schwebach.  Schwebach then scored on a sacrifice fly by Carter Turek.

But, Post 266 found themselves tied at 4, heading to the bottom of the seventh, and then loaded the bases with no one out, setting up the game winner.

At the plate, the Caps were lead by Schwebach who went (3-3 with 2 RBI), Johnson (2-4,) Schramm (1-2, three runs scored), Turek also drove in two runs for Post 266.

Boston Willemssen went the first five innings on the mound, giving up four hits and two earned runs, before handing the ball off to Nate Christensen who, finished off the final two innings giving up no runs on just one hit, to earn the win in relief.

Tuesday night, July 2, found Post 174 from Lennox traveling to Tea. The TinCap bats never got going in this won, losing the game 4-0. Despite a strong pitching performance from Clayton Schwebach (7 innings, 11 strikeouts, just 1 walk), the Caps couldn’t push across any runs against Lennox pitching, while only tallying three hits in the game. Gavin Johnson, Clayton Schwebach, and Tim Halbur all collected hits.

The TinCaps are back in action Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12 both at home. Game times are set for 6:30 p.m. each evening. On Sunday, July 14 the team will travel to Vermillion for a 2 p.m. game.
