Tea Gold claim league championship title

The Tea Gold 16U baseball team went 4-1 this past weekend at the I-29 League Tournament, claiming the Championship title in Madison.
The Tea Gold defeated Hamlin in their opening round game game 15-5, but fell to Volga in a high scoring affair in their second game of the Tournament, losing 15-13 Friday night, June 24.
On Saturday, June 25, Tea blew past West Central 20-6, with Teagan Dedula going the distance on the mound.
The Tea Gold then faced an undefeated, Madison Gold Squad. The Titans trailed 3-2 going to the final inning, but erupting for six runs in the final frame to secure an 8-3 victory to reach the Championship game. Sam Werdel helped the Tea Gold to victory, pitching the complete game.
In the Championship game on Sunday, June 26, Tea faced off against Madison White. Tea jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back, winning the championship game by a score of 15-5. Boston Willemssen and Nate Christensen teamed up on the mound giving up only five hits while striking out eight batters.
The offense was led by Ethan Vis who had ten hits in the Tournament, four for extra bases, and compiled seven RBI’s, and had ten stolen bases.
Mason Schramm added nine hits for Tea during their Championship Tournament run. Willemssen also contributed nine hits to go along with his nine RBIs.
Christensen finished the Tournament with 9 RBIs, Werdel laced six hits each, and Carter Turek finished with five hits, including two doubles.
As a team, Tea scored a total of 71 runs in the five game tournament.
