On Friday, Jan. 5 the Tea Area High School boys’ basketball team traveled to Madison and earned the 59-46 victory.
“This was a great bounce-back win for us against a quality team on the road. We started out slow, but we played with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, which had been lacking the last couple games,” said Titan head coach Drew Weber. “We really got going in the second quarter offensively behind Sam and Marshall, which picked up the play of the rest of the group. We struggled at times in the second half, but Jessen really brought us home with some key plays on both ends of the court. I was really proud of how we finished the game and imposed our will onto Madison. It’s a great sign of things to come.”
Sam Almas led the team with 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Marshall Smythe finished with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Jessen Wiebenga had nine points, six rebounds and Garrett Wiebenga had five points, four rebounds. Boston Willemssen had four points, eight rebounds and Brenner Konrad finished with three points and five rebounds.
The Titans will compete against Aberdeen Central on Saturday, Jan. 13 on the road at 3 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 16 the team will be at Watertown at 7 p.m.
