Titan girls defeat Brookings 2-1

The Tea Area High School girls’ soccer team traveled to Brookings on Tuesday, Aug. 20  and played among the rain that fell steadily during the match.

The Titans were able to strike early, scoring two goals in the first half to take the 2-0 advantage at halftime. 

The first goal of the game for the Titans came in the ninth minute when Kendra Nielson hit one in the back of the net on an assist by Mya Neuhardt. Tea Area was able to double their lead in the 18th minute as Avalon Thompson scored on a corner kick.

Brookings controlled most of the second half, and managed one goal but Tea Area hung on for the 2-1 victory at Fishback Soccer Park.

The Titans defeated Watertown on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 4-0, details will be in next week’s paper. 

They will be at home on Thursday, Aug. 29 when they play host to Yankton in a 4 p.m. match-up. The Titans will be at home again on Saturday, Aug. 31 when they host Harrisburg at 11 a.m.
