Titan girls tie with Yankton, fall to Harrisburg

Chloe Wilson takes a shot towards the Yankton goal during play last week. The Titans tied with Yankton, 1-1.

The Tea Area High School varsity girls’ soccer team faced off against the Yankton Gazelles in a tightly contested match at Tea Area High School on Thursday, August 29. Both teams demonstrated strong defensive play, making it challenging for either side to find the back of the net.

Throughout the first half, both the Lady Titans and the Gazelles worked hard to break through the defensive lines, but neither team managed to score. During halftime, coaches and players focused on strategies to enhance their passing and maintain control of the game, aiming to create more scoring opportunities in the second half.

Yankton was the first to break the deadlock, scoring a goal in the second half. However, the Lady Titans responded with determination. With just 5:53 left in the game, Tea Area leveled the score when a ball deflected off a Yankton defender and found its way into the back of the net. Despite both teams’ efforts, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, as neither side could score again.

The Lady Titans returned to action on Saturday, August 31, against Harrisburg but faced a tough challenge, suffering a 4-0 defeat. Looking ahead, the team is set to travel to Huron on Thursday, September 5, for a game at Tiger Stadium, scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. They will then head to Sioux Falls to take on Washington on Tuesday, September 10, before returning home on Saturday, September 14, to face Sioux Falls Roosevelt.
