Titans complete successful first season in Class AA at State Cheer and Dance Competition



The Tea Area Titans capped off an strong first season in Class AA at the 2024 SDHSAA Class AA State Cheer and Dance Competition, held on Saturday, October 26, at Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City. Competing among 19 other skilled teams, Tea Area High School impressed with top-10 finishes across multiple categories: placing seventh in Cheer, eighth in Jazz, and ninth in Hip Hop. Senior Addison Naser was also recognized with a Dance Athletic All-State honor for her outstanding achievements.

The Class AA cheer championship went to Harrisburg, while Brandon Valley took the state title in overall dance.

This milestone season marked Tea Area’s first time into Class AA competition, a transition that brought both challenges and opportunities. Despite facing a demanding field, the Titans showed resilience and determination, with a successful showing at the Eastern South Dakota Conference on October 17. There, the Titans placed third in Hip Hop, fourth in Cheer, and fifth in Jazz.

The competitive dance team members included Leah Ackmann (JR), Tessa Brech (SO), Emersyn Cauwels (SO), Kinsler Derry (8th grade), Kenley Johnson (8th grade), Jenny Kloos (FR), Aubrey Mehlbrech (JR), Addison Naser (SR), Ella Rood (SO), and Leah Walder (SO).

The competitive cheer team members were Leah Ackmann (JR), Tessa Brech (SO), Kyla Brown (SR), Emersyn Cauwels (SO), Kaisley Dummer (7th grade), Jovie Evans (FR), Lilly Kaiser (SR), Aubrey Mehlbrech (JR), Danika Miller (FR), Jaydin Mitchell (SR), Rease Moe (JR), Alaina Norris (8th grade), Olivia Olawsky (JR), Savannah Seidell (SO), Hailee Slattery (SO), Piper Stadtfeld (SO), Ramsey Stansbury (SR), Jadyn Webster (SR), Sarah Wilson (FR), and Emma Zuraff (7th grade).
